Came across an Optics Planet special on Christmas day and decided to check it out. 300 rounds of Aguila 9mm 115 grain FMJ for $88.09 with free shipping. Surprisingly arrived at my doorstep via UPS 3 days later, even during the holidays. I’ve ordered from Optics Planet before, but this was by far the fastest delivery times I’ve experienced from them.

I’m always on the lookout for inexpensive range ammo, and although $0.29 / per round is not that low, it’s not too bad since I’m not spending more to buy bulk, as I usually buy at least 1k round cases for the free shipping. I also figured I give it a shot (pun intended), since I’ve never tried 9mm from Aguila before. I recently purchased 2k rounds of their 22lr hollow points which have run flawless for me so far.

For the past year, my go-to 9mm range ammo has been Sellier & Bellot 124 grain.  Prior to that I was mainly using CCI Blazer 115 grain until this happened.  As practice ammo, I found the Aguila 9mm ammo to be in the same performance ballpark as S&B and CCI ammo.  I had no problems with this ammo, and it ran about as clean as the S&B and CCI too.  (The only noticeably dirty ammo I’ve experienced so far has been CCI aluminum and Magtech).   I’m adding the Aguila to my personal list of approved range ammo and won’t hesitate to buy more in the future if the price is right.
