In mid 2023 I started looking for a CCW candidate to add to my firearm collection. I already had a full size duty pistol for home defense, and was not yet confident with the ergos of micro or sub-compact sized pistols so I was looking for a compact size gun for carry. One of the most popular compact releases of 2023 was the CZ Shadow 2 Compact (S2C), a smaller version of the competition focused CZ Shadow 2. Lack of a decocker option and firing pin block (as well as the price) led me to the CZ P-01. I ordered from Grabagun.com, and they sent out my order the same day it was placed. Fedex delivered it to my FFL in two business days without any problems.
Included in the box are some cleaning rods, a philips head tool with pick, allen wrench, 2 mags and cable lock along with the pistol.
Overall the fit and finish of this pistol is quite impressive. The aluminum alloy frame gives the gun a solid feel, and the stock rubber grips feel good in hand. The only initial complaints upon handling the P-01 would be the short slide release, and the stiffness of the slide which I think should improve over time with shooting. There’s not much real estate to grab when racking the slide to begin with, and the slide serrations are aggressive and definitely feel sharp. I will add a more in depth review after putting some rounds through it.
